Vía Célere new member of the Energy Efficiency Platform representing the Real Estate Sector

  • It is a pioneering business initiative in Spain, which promotes energy saving and the reduction of the carbon footprint.
  • With its incorporation, Vía Célere reinforces its commitment to lead the way towards a more sustainable and energy-efficient real estate development model.

Vía Célere, specializing in the development, investment and management of real estate assets, has become a new member of the Companies for Energy Efficiency Platform, after it approved its candidacy, as a representative of the real estate sector in this pioneering business initiative in Spain, which promotes energy saving and the reduction of the carbon footprint.

Vía Célere’s commitment to energy efficiency in its developments has allowed the developer to lead the way towards a new model of sustainable and energy-efficient real estate development.

The careful choice of materials, together with more efficient processes such as industrialization or BIM, allow a more agile and more sustainable method of construction, generating less waste and reducing CO2 emissions by up to 89%, while producing greater energy savings.

In the words of Carlos Valdés, Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Vía Célere, “the Sustainable Development Goals are integrated into each of our strategic decisions. Becoming part of the Companies for Energy Efficiency Platform is proof of this commitment and is also a great responsibility, which we hope to take advantage of in order to generate a significant change towards a constructive model that is more environmentally friendly”

In its awareness of the environmental impact of the Real Estate Sector, which consumes 32% of global energy worldwide and emits a fifth of CO2 emissions, the developer prioritizes energy efficiency in the homes it builds. “Innovation is essential for Vía Célere and, as a result of our constant research, our promotions incorporate renewable energies such as geothermal energy, as well as avant-garde technologies such as dual-flow ventilation, which represent an important saving in consumption”, said Sandra Llorente, Director of Innovation at Vía Célere.

The Companies for Energy Efficiency Platform, which was set up in 2011, is a group of twelve large companies from different business sectors, firmly committed to the development of specific actions aimed at reducing energy consumption and reducing and offsetting CO2 emissions to the environment, both in their daily operations and in the impact of their customers.

The Companies for Energy Efficiency Platform indicates that they are proud to have Vía Célere as a new member, as a Spanish company with such a strong commitment to energy efficiency, both internally and in its products to the end customer.

With an eminently practical approach, the platform, which only accepts one representative per sector, serves as a meeting forum, allowing interaction between member companies and other entities, both public and private, to generate synergies and contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint. Since it was established, it has managed to contribute to saving more than three and a half million tons of CO2, and one of its goals is to reach 5.5 million by 2020.

The current members of the initiative are Endesa, Carrefour, Cemex, Cepsa, Meliá Hotels International, Philips Ibérica, Renfe, Seur, Telefónica, Toyota España, Unibail-Rodamco España and Vía Célere.
